I found my recipe for fruit ice tea, but now I need help reducing the calories….?
…Is there a replacement for SIMPLE SYRUP?
My recipe calls for 2 cups of sugar to make the simple syrup…alot of calories for me. This recipe is an orange and lemon (mint in steeping) ice tea and I love it, but I am afraid that if I make up a gallon of it, I will drink it all myself. How can I get rid of all that sugar? Make the recipe, excluding the simple syrup, and then sweeten (artificially) later?
Splenda is a No Calorie Sweetener. It measures cup for cup just like sugar. It can also be used in cooking & baking. I’ve made Sugar-free pecan pies using Splenda & sugar-free Log Cabin syrup before for someone at a nursing home once that was diabetic. She shared her pie & nobody could tell the difference. I’ve made peanut butter cookies with it too. Good Luck!
