What is Blooming Flower Tea?

Blooming flower tea is one of those things that you can’t fully appreciate until you experience it firsthand. It is simply a small bundle of tea bags that have been sewn together with a flower in the center. The flower is prepared ahead of time so it can sit inside the Blooming Tea package for a length of time and then come to life once it is seeped in water.

Many of the blooming flower tea products on the market today are hand sewn together with great care. They look like small balls of tea packets, but when you place them in a glass container and pour in the hot water the tea bags slowly open up, come apart from one another, and allow the flower to come out and bloom.

You can use any type of glass container to put a blooming tea on display:

• Wine glasses

Any clear glass container that you have can be used to display blooming flower tea. It can be used in a large container and set on display in the center of a table. Or you can give each person their own special glass or container with their own blooming tea to enjoy.

Since blooming flower tea is so different and many people have never seen it before, many hostesses are now including blooming tea at special events. It is a great way to get people talking amongst one another and all you have to do is send someone around to add fresh water to each guest’s glass to keep the tea blooming all evening long.

If you just use the blooming flower tea for your own enjoyment you can use the same bundle at least a couple times. It will eventually start to taste bitter, so most people don’t like to use them more than 3, possibly 4 times before tossing it out.

Selecting Your Blooming Tea

Blooming flower tea comes with a variety of flowers woven into the center, so you can choose the color and flower style that best fits your personal tastes or the theme for a particular social gathering. Some of the most commonly included flowers are:

• Amaranth
• Chrysanthemum
• Lily
• Hibiscus
• Jasmine

Some blooming teas can be quite elaborate with more than one flower pressed into the center of the ball. For instance, there is one brand that offers a beautiful tiger lily surrounded by jasmine. This makes the blooming tea experience something even more special to look at.

You can also find a variety of different teas used to create these tea balls. There are some made from green tea and many from Black Teas while others use Flavored Teas. Just as you find a wide assortment of tea flavors when you shop for loose Leaf Tea, you can find a wide variety of flavors used in flowering tea products.

The only limitation you may have is finding the tea that you enjoy most with the flower that you really want to see bloom. This can be a bit difficult, but if you look around and have an open mind to different types of flowers you will find something that works perfectly for your event or just your own enjoyment at home.

Blooming flower tea often sells by the ball or you can purchase small collections. The collections tend to give a discount on the per-ball price.
