One legend dates this back to 1803 when one of Earl Grey’s men rescued the son of a Chinese mandarin. The Chinese mandarin presented the Earl with this bergamot oil Flavored Tea. This lovely little tale is not factual but often told as part of the story of the beginning of Earl Grey Tea.
