Children’s China Tea Sets for Tea Parties
One of the favorites for children ages two to around six or seven is hosting tea parties for real or imaginary friends. Of course, in order to host a proper ‘tea party’ a tea set is essential. Whether you choose a china tea set or a metal or plastic set will most likely depending on the age of your child, and to some extent their overall dexterity. Many educators actually recommend letting children play with ‘real’ items rather than toys, thus a compromise when it comes to a tea party may be buying a toy china tea set rather than letting your child use your best china cups and saucers.
Although china inevitably drops and breaks, or becomes chipped over time, there are advantages to using them. China is very easy to keep clean, whereas plastic Tea Cups can often become scratched and stained. China feels great too, almost like the real thing. Cool drinks stay cool while warm chocolate stays warm for a good deal longer than it would drinking out of plastic cups.
A child’s tea set is usually a miniature replica of a real set. It has tiny cups and saucers, sweet dishes, small teaspoons, a small sugar bowl and a milk or cream pitcher. Frequently they are decorated with child friendly images, such as favorite heroes, cartoon characters or even princesses. You can also buy some that have beautiful floral designs, just like the ‘real’ tea sets.
If you are going to buy a china tea set for a child, it is often a good idea to buy two sets. One set can be for playing with and the other can be used for replacements in case anything drops and breaks. They are usually not too expensive, and anyone who has had to console a little princess or hostess who has dropped some of her fine china and seen it shatter into tiny pieces will appreciate the ability of being able to whip out a replacement!
They can be found in most toy departments, where you will find there is usually quite a selection to choose from. While plastic and metal sets remain very popular older girls really do love the chance to handle an actual china set, and they will usually be thrilled to receive one. A tea set can literally provide hours of playtime fun for your child, and they are especially great to have on hand for rainy day play time or to entertain small children when they come over.
